I've started with a list of mods I really like the look of (long ass list incoming):īetter Dialogue Controls and Better Messagebox Controls So recently I've become obsessed with building my first PC and modding Skyrim up the ass. It seems like TheForceWithin is on the right track here, SMIM is a big mod and sometimes it's been released with errors like this even without conflicts thrown into the equation. This can usually be fixed pretty easily using a program called Nifskope, but I'm going to guess that that's a little too in depth when you're just trying to get your game working. However if the object is still purple it will indicate that the mesh has been configured wrongly. If that was the problem the game would load its default textures (from the BSA) in their place. There is a slight chance that the mod textures aren't loading because they are corrupted if you have an image viewer capable of looking at/editing DDS files you'll be able to tell quickly, if you don't, try deleting them. If you have those two textures (the _n is just the normal map) in your data/textures folder, it most likely means that your problem isn't with those files, but with the mesh they are meant to be applied to. This basically means that the base files can never go "missing". The game will then load these files instead of the ones in the BSA archives. Most mods which replace those files will use the same filenames and directories as the original files, but are put in folders in your data directory, instead of overwriting the original BSAs. Click to expand.Ok, so pretty much all of Skyrim's base files (textures, models etc.) are kept in archives in the BSA format.
